Summer Camps 2018


OSTC offers a variety of exciting summer camps for kids, plus classes in the Fall and Spring, in all disciplines of theatre from musical theater, to Shakespeare, to costuming! OSTC provides unique and fun summer activities for youth. Please see below for details, camp descriptions, and click the BIG RED BUTTON to register for any camp. 


GENERAL INFORMATION

Pricing: $325/week

Times: 9am-3pm, drop off available at 8:45am. We hope you will join us for a mini-performance at the end of each week.

After Care: $50, 3pm-5pm, ONLY AVAILABLE FOR CAMPS WHERE INDICATED

  • During after care, students will watch movies and have unstructured play time both inside and out. 

Scholarships: Scholarships are available for all OSTC youth education programs.  

 **Early registration is recommended for scholarship students**

  • Please indicate during registration if you would like to apply for a scholarship.                         
  • Scholarships generally cover 50% of program cost and are reviewed by an independent committee.
  • Your scholarship is applicable for all programs within the 12-month period after approval.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations up to 14 days prior to the first day of camp will receive a full refund.

  • Cancellations within 14 days of class start will receive a  50% refund. There are no refunds once a camp has started.
  • Class reservations are transferable subject to OSTC’s approval. 


*WAIT LIST* June 18-22: Improv Comedy Camp, Grades 6-8

Get ready to say, "Yes, AND" to Improv! Learn the "rules" of improvisation and use these building blocks to tap into your playfulness and creativity. Campers will participate in imaginative games, activities and exercises incorporating movement, speech, dramatic play and literature. This camp will instill confidence, encourage the imagination and foster working with others. Together we'll build a safe, encouraging and collaborative atmosphere for risk-taking. We'll emphasize being present, listening and co-creating, and developing humorous characters. By the end of the camp, students will have explored the fundamentals of comedy and improvisation, culminating in an informal performance of their very own creation!
Oh yeah, and it's really fun!


June 25-29: Shakespeare’s Heroes and Villains, Grades 4-5

Students will spend the week incorporating improvisation, theatre exercises and learning the text of William Shakespeare to create an exciting original performance! This class will instill confidence in approaching the text of William Shakespeare, encourage the imagination, and enhance communication skills.


* WAITLIST * July 9-13: Shakespeare Conservatory Camp, Grades 6-12

Students will study all facets of performing and producing Shakespeare’s plays, including creating their own show that will be part of the pre-show entertainment for the Thin Air Shakespeare performance on Friday July 13.


* WAIT LIST* July 16-20: Musical Theatre Performance Camp, Grades 5-6

Students will spend the week honing their triple threat skills. Time is dedicated daily to acting, movement and singing.

July 30-AUGUST 3: Musical Theatre Performance Camp, Grades 7-8

This class will instill more confidence, encourage the imagination and foster working with others. Students will spend the week honing their triple threat skills. Time is dedicated daily to acting, movement and singing. 


*WAIT LIST* August 6-10: Art Association Collaborative Camp Wild Kingdom,

Grades K-2

Take an adventure filled Safari through the Wild Kingdom! Campers will create a jungle themed set along with props and use these pieces to create a performance based on life in the Wild Kingdom! This camp will ignite imaginations and inspire adventure and creativity!

August 13-17: Story to Stage, Grades 1-2

Join children's author Nanci Turner Steveson in a week long adventure of using the imagination and creativity to take favorite stories, turn them into a script which will then be performed by the campers on Friday afternoon. Big imaginations are required for this fun camp!

August 20-24: Audition Camp Grades 9-12

Learning how to audition is absolutely essential for anyone who is interested in acting.

In this camp, students will learn the integral components of putting together an audition piece, and will be audition ready by the end of the week!
