Off Square Theatre Company produces the world premiere of the newest play by Jackson Hole's Bob Berky, "The Fourth Nail.”A scorching Dark Ages comedy about fear, fraud and faith.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming – Wyoming playwright and well known performance artist BOB BERKY, has won an OBIE AWARD, a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival and Kennedy Center’s 1991 New American Plays Award. His new work, The Fourth Nail, is an ingenious story of prophecy, profiteering and the path to damnation. A dark comedy, The Fourth Nail presents a hilarious satire set in the middle ages. The fun revolves around A King, his Fool, an Alchemist ---and two battered Crusaders who return to Prague with relics for sale—the widow’s peak of John The Baptist, a grape from the Last supper, bird seed from the pocket of St. Francis and lots of thumbs—but soon, their desire for wealth collides with their own fears of death and uncertainty.
The production is filled with special effects, period costumes and sets that realistically depict a Medieval Knight’s Shop, a King’s Bedroom and Alchemist’s Lab—complete with explosions! Berky is a performance artist extraordinaire. He has performed as a solo artist at universities, theatres and theatre festivals throughout the world, including Hong Kong, Perth, Australia, London, Vancouver, Buenos Aires, Cologne, Amsterdam and Belfast. He has appeared at Dance Theatre Workshop, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and as a featured artist at The Brooklyn Academy of Music Next Wave Festival in “The Alchemedians” and “The Power Project”. “The Alchemedians”, with Mr. Berky and Michael Moschen, was produced off-Broadway and toured worldwide. Off Square Theatre, resident company at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts, is a 500-seat performance pavilion that opened in March 2007 built with specifications to rival professional theaters across the country. Uniquely Jackson, however, the performance hall lobby boasts spectacular views of Snow King Mountain. The Fourth Nail premieres April 24 – and runs through May 10, with evening performances at 8 p.m., Saturday matinee at 2 p.m., Single ticket prices start at $25.00.
