CREATIVE ADVENTURES
(Ages 6-7) Tuesdays 3:45-4:45 January 31- March 20 (8 sessions) Learn the basics of play-making and storytelling! Children will develop listening skills, teamwork and confidence while exploring movement and vocal technique in a fun and supportive atmosphere. The class culminates in an informal performance for family and friends. Cost: $100 Instructor: Kelly Bouma
REAL CHARACTERS (Ages
8-10) Tuesdays 4:45-6:00 January 31 – March 20 (8 sessions) Students create and explore exciting characters by tapping into emotion and learning to experiment with voice and movement. Through role-playing and creative problem solving, young actors delve into what it means to "play a part". The class culminates in an informal performance for family and friends. JUNIOR PLAYERS (Ages
11-14) Thursdays 4:00-5:30 February 2 – March 22 (8 sessions) Budding theatre artists will engage in creative interpretation, improvisation, vocal technique, and movement for stage. Scene work and character development are explored as students learn to "match the action to the word, the word to the action". The class culminates in an informal performance for family and friends. Kelly hails from the Chicago area. She has been teaching and performing in Jackson and surrounding western states for the past few years. Most recently, Kelly has been traveling and performing with the sketch comedy troupe, Broad Comedy and found her way back home to Chicago this summer to study at Improv Olympic. In her free time, Kelly loves to practice Yoga and hike through the mountains.
Coupled with Nicole’s love of performance and the arts is a passion for education. A certified teacher, Nicole has taught in theatre arts and vocal performance for over a decade. While teaching at Park City High School from 2006-2009, Nicole was awarded the Excellence in Teaching award three years in a row, and was also nominated for the Sarah Doiley Teacher of the Year award. As a private coach, she has worked with students who have earned scholarships in performance at Fordham, USC, BU, and William and Mary.
