Adult Programs

Off Square’s adult classes include Beginning Acting, Self-Scripting and Singing for the Stage, Improvisation and Playwrighting.   Whether the goal is to further your craft, or pursue a long-held dream of performance, or just take up a thrilling new hobby, Off Square’s Adult theatre classes are a fun and challenging activity unlike any other in the valley.  

Master Classes:  Off Square also offers high quality Master Classes by world-class teachers to give local artists a chance to hone skills and learn more about the theatre right here in Jackson!

ADULT CLASS OFFERINGS

Scene Study for Actors:  In Pursuit of Honesty!   Adults (ages 18+)
Mondays, 6:00 – 8:00pm, Jan. 11 – March 8, (8 wks) Tuition $180
It’s here….a serious forum for the actor….whether you’re 16 or 50, this class will bring you to the core of the acting process.  This class concentrates on the process an actor goes through to create a character in a scene.  Paired with a partner, the two of you will work “organically” in creating a scene from a play using basic acting principles.  Course will emphasize the use of a set of techniques meant to create realistic portrayals of characters.

SECOND CITY IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP:  Ages 18 and older.

2 hour workshop taught by company members of the famed Second City Improvisational Troupe of Chicago.
Sunday, January 17th from 12:00 – 2pm    Cost:  $50

AUDTIONS are held periodically for upcoming productions and the OSP Youth Troupe.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for all programs. Off Square obtains grants and contributions to make its educational programs accessible to all. For scholarship information, call 307.733.3021. Early registration is encouraged and recommended for scholarship students.

Three easy ways to register:

  1. Call 733.3021 to register over the phone with a credit card and reserve your space
  2. Download the registration form and fax to 734-1068
  3. or stop by our offices @ 240 S. Glenwood in the Center for the Arts and register in-person. Office hours are 9 – 5 pm, M-F.

Classes require a 50% payment at time of registration. A 90% refund is given to withdrawals two weeks prior to class start date, after which point no credits or refunds please.
