Off Square's Education Program provides a supportive and challenging environment for children and adults to play, explore and create. Scholarships available for all programs. Three easy ways to register:
**UPCOMING AUDITIONS** Auditions for the 2008-09 OFF SQUARE PLAYERS will be held Thursday, September 11th from 4-6pm. If interested and between the ages of 12-18, please call 733-3021 to sign up. Please prepare 32 bars from an uptempo and a ballad or one complete song and to perform AND 2 fully memorized contrasting monologues. Please bring a photo/resume to your audition and be prepared to stay for up to two hours. NOTE: There is a financial commitment if chosen to be a part of the conservatory program.

We all
have experienced moments in our lives that have had an impact on our growth and
development. The need to share the
impact of such events is at the very core of being human.
In
this course you will create your own solo performance emphasizing characterization,
living truthfully onstage and the creative process. Developing original,
issue-oriented material enhanced by music, movement, props and theatre media
born of your own creative vision is an exciting way to share our stories.
Beginning Improvisation
Adults (18 & up) Mondays,

Improvisation
means performing without a script and “without a net!” Spend eight weeks honing spontaneity, timing
and team building in the thrilling “in the moment” creative world of improvisation. Taught by seasoned improvisational performer,Todd

class is for those with some previous experience in Improvisation. Taught by Todd Hjelt, this class builds on
basic skills/exercises learned in Beginning Improv class .
Permission from the instructor or completion of Beginning Improv is
required to attend.
Todd Hjelt is a member of Jackson’s own Improv Comedy Troupe, Out of Thin Air (OOTA), and resident artist with Off Square Theatre Company.

for the dedicated student of theatre, ages 12-18. This conservatory training emphasizes total
actor development through character study, scene-study, movement, vocal
technique and improvisation. Entrance is

Stage Combat
Intensive Workshop
Ages

Tuition $400 Stage Combat is the fascinating branch of performance that simulates onstage fighting without injuring the performers! This is an intensive stage combat workshop, focusing on the skills of hand to hand combat, culminating in the opportunity to become a nationally certified stage combatant. The workshop will be taught by Jason Armit, an SAFD (Society of American Fight Directors) certified stage combat instructor. Students who complete this 30 hour segment and pass the certification exam will receive certification from the SAFD
(The Society of American
Fight Directors is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safety and
fostering excellence in the art of directing staged combat/theatrical violence.
Our members have worked around the world as Fight directors and stunt
coordinators.)
Play Readings
Off
Square’s Play Reading series explores seminal plays from the past and the
present. The readings are free, informal
and open to all members of the community to take a part or just listen. A relaxed
